The Greek Islands
Our favourite Greek islands for an Easter getaway include Crete and Rhodes because they’re two of the warmest. While the smaller islands of Mykonos and Paxos offer stylish boutique accommodation. Plus, a wonderfully slow pace of life to adapt for a while.
In contrast, Greece is not only a great place to relax under the Easter Sun. If you want more excitement visit in early spring, for one of the most colourful festivals on the Greek calendar – The Apokries Carnival! Check when the carnival celebrations will happen before booking because the date changes yearly due to the start of Lent. Then throughout your holiday, you can embrace Greek culture by eating, drinking, and socialising with the locals. There will also be costume parties to attend and dancing. Plus, colorful parades to watch as they flow through the streets in the sunshine.
Sicily
The island at the toe of Italy’s ‘boot’, Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean. It’s great for some Easter sun because it has mild temperatures and a lower chance of rain. Explore this Italian holiday destination to taste fabulous Italian food by the sea. Also, learn about Italy’s culture by visiting historical sites in Syracuse or the ancient city of Palermo. A day visiting Mount Etna (the largest active volcano in Europe), is where you can capture incredible cones and stem venting craters on camera too.
Turkey
Both the western Aegean coast and the southern ‘Turquoise’ coast of Turkey are warm and welcoming in the spring. Bodrum on the west coast is an elegant castle city on the sea, while in the south, you’ll find the harbour city of Antalya, a collection of little village resorts, and the crystal blue waters that give the area its nickname.
Mauritius
Further afield, this jewel in the Indian ocean reaches temperatures of nearly 30 degrees during spring and Easter. It’s a sun worshipper’s paradise, but it also offers some of the best snorkelling and diving to be found anywhere, thanks to its huge unbroken barrier reef.
Barbados
The Caribbean is a great choice for Easter, as the season is coming to a close while the weather remains warm and blissfully tropical. In Barbados, There’s also a vibrant restaurant scene for foodies, with fresh fish, seafood, and delicious street food. Why not go on a food tour to sample all the Barbadian foods and cuisine?
Koh Samui, Thailand
In the spring, the east coast of Thailand is in its dry season, so the island of Koh Samui offers a sun-drenched escape. It can get very hot though, so may not be for you if you don’t like intense heat. You’ll find a variety of luxurious spas and resorts to choose from on this palm-fringed island, perfect for some real relaxation.
California
There are guaranteed blue skies all year round in the Golden State, and Easter is no exception. California is wonderfully varied too, offering everything from majestic redwood forests to sweeping sandy beaches, plus miles of coastline roads designed to help you take it all in.
