When we need it, travel insurance feels invaluable. It’s there to save us from the financial burden of unexpected problems on holiday, whether that’s a medical emergency, a flare-up of an existing health condition, or simply a delayed flight.
At Free Spirit, we make every effort to provide specialist travel insurance that covers the vast majority of health conditions and disabilities, to people of any age, even when they may have found it difficult to secure cover in the past. Our priority is always to ensure that should you need healthcare while you’re away, you get the care you need without having to worry about what the medical bills will cost.
But how much does travel insurance cost? The short answer is that there is no short answer – the price of your travel insurance policy will depend on several different factors, such as your age, where you want to go, how long you will be away for and, of course, any existing medical conditions or disabilities you may have. Information like this helps us to ensure that we offer you travel cover that suits you, your health and your circumstances. Remember, it’s never worth trying to save money by going without travel insurance; the costs of being uninsured are far, far higher than the price of any policy.

The following sample policy prices* are based on a five-day trip to Europe for a traveller who is 55 years old. We’ve included average costs* for both single trip and annual multi-trip holiday insurance, at both our levels of cover – Super and Super Duper.
|Medical condition||Single trip – Super cover||Single trip – Super Duper cover||Annual multi-trip – Super cover||Annual multi-trip – Super Duper cover|
|Type 2 Diabetes||£14.87||£17.10||£49.87||£57.35|
*Please note: The prices in this table are examples only. Actual prices will vary depending on an individual’s circumstances. Contact us for a quote specifically for you.
Although these are just example travel insurance costs, it can be helpful to see how average prices vary between types and levels of cover.
- Single trip travel insurance covers an individual trip of up to 94 days (or up to 45 days if you are aged 76 years or over).
- Annual multi-trip insurance covers an unlimited number of trips within a 12-month period, as long as you come home again between each trip. If you will be taking more than one trip over the space of a year, this type of cover may be of better value than separate single trip policies. You can travel for a maximum of 31 days per trip with our Super cover or 45 days per trip with Super Duper cover.
- Our two levels of travel cover – Super and Super Duper – offer different insurance features, so you can choose the one that’s best for you. For example, our Super Duper cover offers everything that Super cover includes, with the additional protection of scheduled airline failure insurance and cover for journey disruption, including airspace closure.
