On a sunny September day, a unique charity called the Magical Taxi Tour took children living with chronic debilitating illnesses and life-limiting conditions on an enchanted trip of a lifetime, to experience Disney® Paris for a long weekend.
With help from the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers and sponsors (who contribute towards the children’s expenses each year), approximately 400 sick children enjoyed a blissful break from their therapy and treatment. Each year when leaving the capital, over 90 taxis can be seen rolling through the streets of London, three miles long with excited children inside.
At Free Spirit HQ, a request was made by the charity’s event coordinator. Cover for this once in a lifetime trip and its distinctive convoy was needed. Free Spirit Manager Mary Holt was happy to pick up the call and quickly responded to the charity’s request for cover.
Time was of the essence but we are delighted to say that we could provide cover for their trip from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th September. This included the duration of the trip from leaving London to returning home from France.

‘Each year we take a party of approximately 400 to Disneyland Paris for a three-day trip. The children’s age range is 4 – 16 years and the rest of the party are all adults over 25…Including doctors, nurses and of course parents. This is our 26th year and we have full support of Ambulance and Police to ensure the safety of both the convoy and participants.’
