Are you looking for new ways to boost your mental wellbeing? Maintaining a positive mindset is something we have focused on in recent years. In fact, 2025 has been dubbed the golden age of wellness tourism and longevity, whereby more people are finding new experiences to cleanse their minds and bodies. These include attending sleep retreats and creative workshops on their holidays.
As May is mental health awareness month, it’s a good opportunity to remind ourselves why a holiday is good for our mental health, too. Plus, we’ve uncovered some blissful breaks that can boost our mental health.
We’re set to inspire you to start planning a trip to enhance your health, too. After all, science proves that planning a holiday is as good for our minds as the experience itself!
1: Holidays boost happiness
Planning and experiencing holidays can help to rewire our brains. Also, they enhance our mood and self-confidence. When we have a boost in our self-confidence, we’re empowered to do things for ourselves, like exploring a destination we’ve always wanted to visit! During these explorations, we learn unique things about a country. We may even try a new activity, such as paddle boarding or supporting a developing community.
Doing new things and stepping outside of our comfort zone is how the brain rewires itself. In response, endorphins in your brain increase, which creates increased feelings of happiness. Plus, once we’ve mastered something new, we may feel even happier.
