Why It’s Vital To Cover Your Angina

Our angina travel insurance gives you cover for cancellation before you travel and covers you for emergency medical expenses whilst you are away.

Should you need to cancel your holiday due to your angina, Free Spirit can provide cover for your unused travel and accommodation costs that you have already paid for or are contracted to pay. If during your holiday you are unfortunate enough to have a medical emergency, Free Spirit can provide cover for your medical costs including repatriation if medically necessary.

Failing to purchase adequate insurance could leave you open to paying out for expensive medical treatment and hospital accommodation costs which could run into thousands of pounds. Many standard travel insurance policies exclude cover for existing medical conditions or will decline to offer cover. Here at Free Spirit, we can give you the peace of mind protection you need when you travel.

Why Choose Free Spirit To Cover You?

  • Most medical conditions and disabilities covered
  • No upper age limit for most destinations on Single Trip and Annual Multi-trip policies
  • Choice of several cover options
  • Single trips covered up to 115 days (45 days if aged 76 years or over)
  • Annual Multi-trip provides cover for any number of trips during the year – travel up to 32 days per trip (Standard and Super cover) and 45 days (Super Duper)

Pattern

Types Of Angina

Like all of the body’s organs and tissues, your heart needs a constant supply of oxygen-rich blood to function normally. Blood is supplied to the heart by two large blood vessels that are known as the left and right coronary arteries.

Stable angina

This is most commonly caused when the coronary arteries become narrow and hardened. This is called atherosclerosis and it restricts the blood flow to the muscles of the heart. It is essentially a supply and demand problem however, when you are at rest, the muscles of your heart need a relatively small supply of blood, so you will not experience any symptoms. When you exercise or feel stressed, your heart muscles have to work harder and the demand for blood increases.

Unstable angina

One of the underlying causes of atherosclerosis is a build-up of fatty deposits, known as plaques, in the arteries. If the plaques rupture it will interfere with the normal flow of blood and cause a blood clot to form. A blood clot can quickly grow, blocking one of the coronary arteries and significantly reducing the blood supply to the heart.*

*Please note, we are unable to offer cover until your condition is stable and controlled by any treatment you are receiving and/or medication you have been prescribed.
