Single Trip travel insurance

Protect your holiday with a specialist single trip insurance policy

Specially designed for people of any age who have existing medical conditions or disabilities, our specialist single trip travel insurance is ideal for your annual holiday, a short break away, or a longer, once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

With our single trip travel insurance, you can ensure your individual trips for up to 94 days (or up to 45 days if you are aged 76 years or over), so you have time to really get away from it all, either in the UK or abroad.

Our ‘Super Duper’ level of cover is rated 5 Star by Defaqto which means that it has been independently verified to provide one of the highest quality offerings in the market.

Whilst having a pre-existing medical condition or disability can sometimes make it difficult to find suitable travel insurance, our single trip policy can give you the peace of mind and protection you need when you travel. We can create a single trip holiday insurance policy that’s catered exactly to your health needs, and that covers you for a multitude of essential travel eventualities.

For example, our single trip cover protects you if you need to cancel your trip, if your luggage is lost or stolen, or if you fall ill whilst away*. Click here for further details of the cover we provide.

You can choose between two levels of cover (‘Super’ and ‘Super Duper’), depending on your individual needs. ‘Super Duper’ provides the widest level of cover and it’s been rated 5 Star by Defaqto.

Why choose specialist travel insurance for a single trip from Free Spirit?

Free Spirit single trip travel insurance provides wide-ranging cover

Whatever type of trip you are planning; our single trip holiday travel insurance could offer the wide-ranging cover you need. You can purchase instant cover online anytime, so you can secure single trip travel insurance with medical conditions for those last-minute trips, even when our office is closed!

As well as the benefits listed above, you’ll be covered for repatriation to your home country (the UK, Channel Islands, and Isle of Man), personal liability, delayed departure, and loss or damage to any medical aids you need to travel with. And, if you select the ‘Super Duper’ option, there is additional cover for extended journey disruption.

Cancellation cover starts on the date you purchase your medical travel insurance policy so, even if your holiday is a few months away, your travel policy will cover you for cancellation until the day your trip starts. This means that if you fall ill before your holiday starts and your doctor has advised against travel, you may be able to claim for unused travel and accommodation costs so you are not left out of pocket*.

Cover your travelling companions on the same single trip policy

Travelling companions can also be covered on our specialist travel insurance for single trips, whether they have a pre-existing medical condition or not. By including your travelling companions on the same single trip insurance, you will ensure the whole party is covered. So, if you had to cancel your holiday due to your medical condition, your friends and family on the same policy would also be covered for any travel costs already spent, which may not be the case if they had taken out a policy elsewhere.

Single vs multi trip travel insurance

If you are planning to take more than one trip over the course of a year, it may be more cost-effective to take out an annual travel insurance policy, rather than one for each trip.

Our annual multi-trip travel insurance provides cover for an unlimited number of trips in a 12 month period, with a maximum duration per trip of up to 32 days (‘Super’ cover) or 45 days (‘Super Duper’ cover).

At Free Spirit, we can offer both annual and single trip travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions or disabilities whatever your age!

Do I need travel insurance for UK trips?

We believe it is vital to leave nothing to chance when travelling, regardless of how far or where you go. Even in the UK, there are events that can cause inconvenience and potential financial loss.

Single trip travel insurance FAQs

1. What is single trip travel insurance?

A single trip insurance policy is one that’s designed to cover one specific holiday or trip.

2. What is the difference between single trip and annual travel insurance?

Whereas single trip insurance covers just one holiday, a Free Spirit annual travel insurance policy covers an unlimited number of trips over a 12 month period, as long as none of the trips exceed the maximum trip duration limit (32 days with ‘Super’ cover and 45 days with ‘Super Duper’ cover) and that you return home in between each one.

3. Does single trip travel insurance cover cancellation?

Yes. With Free Spirit, you are covered for cancellation from the moment your single trip policy is purchased. If you were to become too unwell to travel in the run-up to your departure date, we would be able to reimburse you for any travel expenses you have already incurred, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.

4. How do I work out my travel dates?

The start date of your policy should be the day that you leave home. Your end date should be the date you return home. Note: this could be a different day from the day you leave your holiday destination.

Cancellation cover (available with ‘Super Duper’ only) starts on the date you purchase your policy, so even if your holiday is some time away, you will be covered for cancellation until the day your trip starts.

5. Is there an age limit on single trip insurance?

There is no upper age limit with Free Spirit.

6. What is the maximum duration of a Free Spirit single trip holiday insurance policy?

The maximum duration of any single trip is 94 days, or 45 days if you are aged 76 or more. If you are planning to travel for longer than 45 days and you are aged 76 or over, please call us on 02392 419 080.
